Impact on pregnancy
Seventeen cases of salmonella have been confirmed among those whohad high tea at a luxury Melbourne hotel. A Victorian health department spokesman says about 60 people — or about half the guests — became sick after high tea at The Langham on July 11 and 12, with seven requiring hospitalisation. A pregnant woman was among those affected. Doctors were forced to deliver the woman’s baby five weeks early and the newborn suffered breathing problems as a result of a traumatic birth.
