Parking charges

-

Instead of criticising the Auckland Council’s increased parking charges for motorists — the current charges amount to a ratepayer subsidy for motorists — the Automobile Association’s Barney Irvine should be putting pressure on the Government for the earliest possible start to the City Rail Link.

Even with the present level of service, rail and busway patronage is increasing rapidly. An efficient City Rail Link will make these services even more attractive, further increasing patronage and freeing roads and parking for those who really need it.
