Filly drawn to get good run at Te Aroha today

The benefit of an inside gate gives Ruud Not Too an edge on her stablemate at Te Aroha today, according to trainer Stephen Marsh.

The Cambridge trainer has the filly in good order to resume in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series (R9), in which Scarlet’s Secret will also make her first 3-year-old appearance.

“Ruud Not Too was a bit of a headscratcher early on and her first couple of trials were terrible before we added the blinkers,” Marsh said.

“Her last trial was really good and she’s been working well. First-up last season she was beaten by Scrutinize and she’s drawn to get a good run, I’d like to think she’s going to be right in the finish.”

Ruud Not Too was turned out after she tailed the field home in the Listed Hamilton Vets Equine Stakes, a race in which Scarlet’s Secret finished one place better on debut.

“She’s a tidy filly, but hasn’t got the best of draws so I’d probably lean toward Ruud Not Too,” Marsh said.

Opie Bosson has been booked for Scarlet’s Secret while Danielle Johnson will be aboard Ruud Not Too, as well as the other Marsh runners What A Diva (race three), Shoot To Kill (race five), The Husslah (race seven) and All The Drama (race 10).

What A Diva, Shoot To Kill and The Husslah are all making fresh starts while All The Drama had an interrupted run when unplaced at Avondale this month.
