The world's most obese man has died from a heart attack at the age of 38. Andres Moreno, who weighed 445kg at his heaviest, passed away on Christmas Day while he was being rushed to hospital from his home in Ciudad Obregon in Sonora, Mexico. He suffered a fatal heart attack in the ambulance and could not be revived, his publicist said. Moreno weighed 317kg at the time of his death. Just a month ago football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reduced Moreno to tears by sending him a signed Real Madrid shirt in a bid to encourage him to lose weight and get healthy. That happened just before Moreno — who wanted to get down to 80kg — underwent weight-loss surgery at a Mexico hospital after losing 120kg naturally. He knew there was a risk, but that he would die if he did not have the surgery. He had hoped the weigh loss would help him find a wife and even start a family. magazine L’Obs, after she refused to apologise for an article about terrorism and the violence-hit region of Xinjiang which criticised government policy. “Gauthier failed to apologise to the Chinese people for her wrong words and it is no longer suitable for her to work in China,” Lu Kang, a spokespers­on for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said according to Xinhua, Beijing’s official news agency. Gauthier’s press credential­s and visa expire on December 31, which means she will in effect have to leave the country. It would be the first time a foreign journalist has been expelled since 2012, when al-Jazeera correspond­ent Melissa Chan was forced to leave. Belleville, the main town in one of the three valleys, made the appeal on Christmas Day. Fewer than half of the ski runs were open yesterday in most of the Trois Vallees resorts.
