Kane still able as pack chases Foxes

It's been one of the English Premier League’s most unpredictable seasons. Halfway through the campaign, see how your club is faring

- — Daily Mail

Leicester 9/10

Last season’s unpredictable and underperforming students have been seen in a new light with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez being the star pupils. The Foxes are exceeding expectations at the moment and are guaranteed a fine end of year report.

Arsenal 7/10

Still seem to lack the self-belief and strength in depth required to win the title, but they have performed well enough to remain in contention. Arsenal's shortcomings were exposed again in a 0-4 thrashing by Southampton on Boxing Day.

Manchester City 7/10

They are nowhere near hitting the heights of previous seasons but Manuel Pellegrini’s side can steamroll teams at a canter. Kevin De Bruyne is becoming a real fans’ favourite but Vincent Kompany’s fitness remains a concern.

Tottenham 8/10 Mauricio Pochettino will be quietly confident his Tottenham side can clinch a Champions League place having lost just twice in the Premier League so far this season. If Harry Kane can keep scoring, they will be there or thereabouts.

Crystal Palace 8/10

Having bought stars like Yohan Cabaye, Palace are now fighting to get into Europe and Alan Pardew is being seen as a future England boss.

Manchester United 3/10

United were getting results without playing well. Now they are not getting results. Summer signings have either flopped or been injured.

Watford 9/10

Universally tipped to go straight back to the Championship, instead Watford are challenging for a European spot. Powered by the goals

of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, the Hornets have been a revelation.

Liverpool 5/10

Changing teacher midway through the term has had an effect. This squad had lost their way under former tutor Brendan Rodgers but eccentric professor Jurgen Klopp has sparked an improvement of sorts. Still, they must do better.

Everton 5/10

Roberto Martinez has arguably one of the most talented squads in the Premier League with stars such as centre-back John Stones and in-form striker Romelu Lukaku, but they just do not win enough games to threaten the top four.

West Ham 7/10

Wins at Arsenal, Liverpool and City will be remembered for a long time by fans, and West Ham’s expansive play was wonderful. Injuries have since taken a toll, with Slaven Bilic adopting a tighter style to squeeze out results.

Stoke City 7/10

The Mark Hughes revolution is taking shape. Stoke play a great brand of football and toppled Manchester City, but can be vulnerable against socalled smaller clubs.

Southampton 5/10

It was unlikely Ronald Koeman’s team would match the high standards they set last season, but they are only two wins off a European place.

West Brom 4/10

Three points above the drop zone and Tony Pulis seems determined not to play Saido Berahino, their most dangerous striker.

Bournemouth 8/10

It is hard to overstate how well Eddie Howe has done, especially given the injuries to Tyrone Mings, Callum Wilson and Max Gradel.

Chelsea 3/10

Arguably the most calamitous Premier League title defence of all time. Consistently poor displays from Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard meant the end for Jose Mourinho, who had pretty much lost the plot anyway.

Swansea 3/10

Without a fulltime manager, after sacking Garry Monk, and unable to find a suitable replacement. Relegation candidates.

Norwich 6/10

Republic of Ireland international winger Robbie Brady holds the key to Norwich’s battle for survival. Out of the bottom three on goal difference, manager Alex Neil will be happy his side are in with a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

Newcastle 2/10

They had a pre-season target of finishing eighth but, with major signings Florian Thauvin and Aleksandar Mitrovic having disappointed and Steve McClaren struggling to make an impact, they are deservedly fighting relegation.

Sunderland 4/10

Sam Allardyce’s side are in more than a spot of bother — they are second from bottom and don’t seem to have grasped how to defend. Little wonder when former Liverpool centre-back Sebastian Coates gets a game every week.

Aston Villa 1/10

Signs of fight are visible but relegation seems inevitable. Just one win all season is a miserable tally. Tim Sherwood paid with his job after 10 games and Remi Garde is still searching for his first victory.
