Duke and Duchess of Cambridge expecting third child
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child, Kensington Palace announced last night.
In a statement the palace said the duchess was suffering from severe morning sickness, as she did with her previous pregnancies, so a public engagement she had later yesterday had been cancelled.
The statement said: “Their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.
“The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
The statement said as with her previous pregnancies, the Duchess was suffering from morning sickness.
“Her royal highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”
Six weeks ago, the Duchess hinted that a third baby was on the cards.
During a visit to Poland, she was presented with a cuddly toy for newborns.
She turned to the Duke and laughed: “We will just have to have more babies.”
The couple’s first child, George, is 4 and was born on July 22, 2013. Charlotte, 2, was born on May 2, 2015. The expectant child will become the fifth in line to the throne.
