A Rodney woman has appeared in court facing a charge of receiving about $50,000 worth of stolen sporting equipment belonging to the Warriors.

Siobhan Suzanne Kelly, 25, appeared in the North Shore District Court yesterday before a registrar.

She faced a charge of receiving stolen sporting equipment valued at about $50,000 from persons unknown on March 30.

The maximum penalty for the offence is seven years’ imprisonment.

Kelly also faced a charge of possessing cannabis on March 30.

She was remanded on bail to complete a legal aid application and is scheduled to reappear later in April. No plea was entered.

A co-offender, also facing a receiving charge, will also appear in the North Shore District Court later this month.

At the time of the theft police said two offenders had broken into a van containing Warriors players’ uniforms, GPS units and a video drone among other items in the early hours of March 26.

The unmarked van was parked outside a staff member’s house on Auckland’s North Shore when it was broken into.

Staff had been unable to use their headquarters at Mount Smart Stadium to store the gear because of the Ed Sheeran concert.

A public appeal was made by police for information, which included the release of CCTV stills of the theft.

Detective Sergeant Dean Miles has previously said the North Shore police credited the help of the public for assisting in the recovery of the stolen property.

“As a result of information received from members of the public, police found the property located at an address on the North Shore,” he said. “Police made inquiries at the address, and recovered the property late on Friday March 30.

“We’d like to thank members of the public for coming forward with information and the great team effort which has seen the property recovered.”

Siobhan Suzanne Kelly was remanded on bail when she appeared in the North Shore District Court yesterday.
