A Melbourne woman who faked having terminal cancer before scamming money from friends of her family has been jailed for three months. Hanna Dickenson, 24, told her parents that she needed medical treatment overseas. She accepted A$42,000 ($44,190) donations from her parents’ friends, the Melbourne Magistrates Court was told. One person donated A$10,000 after being discharged from hospital following his own cancer treatment. Dickenson, who pleaded guilty to seven charges of obtaining property by deception, spent much of the money on holidays and socialising, the court heard.
