Shooter spanked

-

Sally Johnston may have taken her last shot at a Commonwealth Games but is not ready pull the trigger on retirement just yet. Johnston failed to fire in the defence of the 50m rifle prone title she claimed four years ago in Glasgow, finishing 11th, one spot behind Palmerston North’s Janet Hunt. “This range is notoriously difficult I’ve been spanked on it before I’m sure I’ll be spanked on it again,” a disappointed Johnston said, citing struggles to adjust to difficult wind conditions. A veteran of five Games, this appears Johnston’s last. Birmingham, 2022, will not feature shooting, and this discipline is not an Olympic event. “I don’t think this is me giving up shooting.”
