John Ryan’s appointment as AuditorGeneral follows Martin Matthews’ resignation from the role in August last year in controversial circumstances. The Audit Office has dryly noted that the temporary vacancy in the position of Controller and Auditor-General will result in its appropriation (currently $1,052,000) being underspent by an estimated $214,000 in 2017-18.
