Meghan’s dad still at short odds to appear
In the latest episode of the Markle family drama this week, it’s still touch and go whether Meghan Markle’s father will walk her down the aisle.
British press were reporting Thomas Markle, 73, underwent heart-surgery, with his ex-wife Doria Ragland poised to take his place in the wedding ceremony.
While it seemed unlikely the awardwinning, former Hollywood lighting director would be getting on a plane to the United Kingdom, two days out from the wedding there was still a glimmer of hope.
The wrote: “Wait and see! Meghan Dad may still be at wedding.
“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still expect the father of the bride to walk her down the aisle at this weekend’s Royal Wedding,” it wrote.
“Kensington Palace officials are working on the assumption that Thomas Markle will be present, even though he claimed that he was having heart-surgery yesterday.”
It’s been a turbulent week in the lead-up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in St George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle, tomorrow.
Over the weekend Markle’s father was reported to have staged a deal with the paparazzi. He subsequently pulled out over fears of embarrassing his daughter further.
After Markle pleaded with him to walk her down the aisle, he agreed, only to be told by doctors he needed heart surgery and it couldn’t wait.
The reported in an exclusive, front-page interview Thomas Markle Jnr blamed Kensington Palace for failing to give the family guidance as to how to stay out of the limelight. Thursday’s front page on the
showed him standing in front of Windsor next to the headline: “My sister will be the perfect modern princess.”
“My sister’s going to be one of the best things ever to have happened to the royal family,” he said.
