Teacher hit boy

An early childhood teacher has been censured, but not lost his teaching licence, for hitting a 5-year-old on the head after the boy spat on him. Nicholas Duval-Smith quit the Motueka Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten soon after. He reported himself to the Education Council, whose complaints assessment committee charged him with serious misconduct. The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal found the charge proven and said DuvalSmith must have a mentor work with him on behaviour management.
