Some Crown agencies are confused about what to do after the the furore surrounding the activities of private investigation firm Thompson and Clark. The problem is, many agencies use private investigators to stop people ripping off the taxpayer. The confusion arises as departments fear being roped in with the frowned-upon activity, and wonder whether it is safe to use any private investigators at all. Some have been dipping their toes into the political waters by seeking tenders for “investigation services” and seeing what sort of reaction they get.
