Two die in Hawke’s Bay smash

Two people died yesterday in an accident in Hawke’s Bay.

The crash at Meeanee on the southern outskirts of Napier happened about 4.35pm. A third passenger in the vehicle had serious injuries.

A man who was in a second vehicle had minor injuries and a woman in the car was uninjured.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said one person was taken to Hawke’s Bay Hospital with critical injuries and another with minor injuries. A witness at the scene compared the vehicles to “crumpled tin cans”. The road was closed after the crash.
