Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has filed a lawsuit against Senator David Leyonhjelm who she claims made “sexist slurs” towards her, becoming the first Australian sitting politician to sue another for defamation. Leyonhjelm, 66, a Liberal Democrat, told Hanson-Young, 36, to “stop shagging men” during a debate in the Senate about curbing violence against women. After Hanson-Young spoke out about the remarks, he made similar comments in television and radio interviews.
