Politics has hit an all time low

-

The race to see who is the most morally corrupt between Simon Bridges and JamiLee Ross has exposed some very unpleasant issues. Are candidates selected on the amount of money they can bring to the party? Is the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for sale? Is it racist to want Chinese candidates rather than Indian, as they are more affluent? Are politicians just driven by money and self interest?

Politics in this country has hit an all time low that is disappointing to those of us who voted for these people. We deserve better, and we have a better example in our current leader. Jacinda, Clarke and baby Neve are a pleasure to see and a credit to this country. Watching them at the recent United Nations gathering I was proud of their normal, loving family image. They represent something better to strive for.

S. Hansen, Hastings.
