Brave move

-

We should all collectively thank Simon Bridges for braving out all the naysayers and critics and getting rid of an unfit person from our Parliament, even if it comes at the expense of his own job. It was the right thing to do and he has proven his mettle.

Give a moment’s thought to what would happen in the future had this not been brought to a head. Jami-Lee Ross would have continued to collect damaging information on Bridges and other MPs which would have eventually led to a leadership challenge — with any opposition nicely compromised and supporters sewn up.

Would we have wanted such a person to be leading New Zealand’s largest political party? Bridges has made the right calls every time to force out an unsuitable person. It showed courage and fortitude in the face of strong opposition.

Tom Burton, Snells Beach.
