Some in the electricity sector are tightening their belts. Electricity Authority chairman Brent Layton took a cut in earnings in the past financial year, down from $262,000 to $224,000 for the part-time role. The minister Layton answers to, Megan Woods, will probably be pleased there is now a bit more of a differential between his pay and hers, at $288,900. In total, the board’s remuneration was $709,000, with the authority calculating they did the work of 1.98 fulltimers — that’s a a pro rata salary rate of more than $350,000.
