On permit

Our immigration department has gone mad by granting residency to a man who came here on a false passport, then became involved in major drug dealing. Immigration say their reasons are to be kept secret. Seriously? What does it take to get thrown out of New Zealand?

Jock Mac Vicar, Hauraki. Immigration Minister Iain lees-Galloway has decided to grant residency to a convicted Czech drug smuggler who was jailed for nearly six years. Good to see the judiciary doesn’t possess a monopoly on stupidity. Chris Tompkins, New Plymouth.

On childcare

I am not surprised there is a shortage of early childhood teachers as new centres are springing up as fast as retirement villages. I have counted six within a 3km radius from our home with a seventh newly completed and obviously waiting to be manned. V. Hall, Whangaparaoa.

On royal visit

Who will babysit our Prime Minister’s professed egalitarian values whilst she hosts the royals? Jane Margaret Sadler, Remuera.

On floating stadium idea

Why not anchor it mid-Tasman for NZ v Australia matches? Dean Donoghue, Papamoa Beach.

On fuel tax

The Prime Minister says there will be no further regional fuel taxes while she is PM. Is this an admission that she’s got it wrong in Auckland?

Jeff Cooper, Goodwood Heights.
