Family First
The Herald article “poll on gender ID for kids” (January 15) gives Family First a platform as the self-appointed arbitrator of gender dysphoria policy in our country.
Thankfully the world is moving on concerning attitudes to sexuality, gender, marriage and narrow definitions of family.
Having failed with scare tactics on parents’ right to thrash children, they now beat-up on sensible, sensitive inclusive school policies that affect only a very small number of vulnerable children.
Their latest Curia Market Research polling on whether people “believe” children should be “taught” that gender and hormone treatment is possible is a manipulative surveying that muddies the waters offers little but opinion.
What does “taught” even mean in this context?
Family First have a thinly disguised religious conservative agenda and like to dabble in policy and politics.
Frustrated that society no longer swallows one biased expression of universal truth as necessarily universal, they regularly engage in polling as a bullying strategy to frighten politicians.
Suggesting that schools are under the sway of “indoctrination programmes” and calling school policies “misguided” based on nebulous opinion-based polling is part of their own misguided programme.
Family First would have “suffer the little children” rather than a sensitive, respectful and rational approach to those who feel born into the wrong gender.
