Mafia boss killed outside his home in new York

-

The boss of one of New York’s five mafia families has been killed in front of his Staten Island home, according to media reports.

Gambino family boss Francesco Cali was reportedly shot several times then, the Daily Beast reported, his killers ran over him in a blue pickup truck to finish the job.

The New York Daily News reported that 53-year-old Cali, a native of Sicily, was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital and that police were searching for the pickup truck used to flee from the scene.

Police sources said callers reported hearing six or seven shots.

The New York Post reported that Cali, who became the de facto godfather of the Gambinos in 2015, was described by mafia watchers as the opposite of the exuberant former boss John Gotti because “no one ever sees him”. “He was a real quiet oldschool boss,” a police source told the New York Post.
