What was your greatest holiday?
Probably the Christmas break just past: Waiheke Island and Wellington with family and friends.
And the worst?
A school camping trip to Otaki Forks in the late 80s: a flash flood washed through on the first night, cold and wet and pre-cellphones . . .
If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?
Building sand creatures at the beach with my kids.
If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
Wellington to see my mum and dad.
How about for a dream holiday internationally?
Cairo to see the pyramids and the Sphinx.
What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done when travelling?
Not getting my passport back off the customs officer at Auckland international and not realising until two minutes before the plane left for LA.
Aisle seat or window seat?
Aisle every time, I gotta stretch those pins.

What was the most memorable meal you’ve had while travelling?
The lamb fajita at Fred’s Mexican Cafe in Huntington Beach, California.

A signed certificate of authenticity for my new Supro Bowie guitar.
Favourite airport to land at?
Queenstown, just stunning.
What’s the next trip you’ve got planned?
A camping trip for dads and boys in Mangawhai Heads.
