TASTY & HEALTHY

With steam cooking the food is not immersed in water, and so it retains its flavour and vitamins, reducing the loss of nutrients. This gentle cooking method is particularly suitable for delicate foods such as tender vegetables and fish, but is also great for meat, potatoes or even desserts.

The high nutrient level in steam-cooked food has been scientifically proven in tests carried out by universities in Germany. Tested to scientific standards, steam cooking proved to be superior to other methods in terms of retaining sensitive nutrients such as vitamin C and minerals.

Their results showed that steam cooking is both the tastiest and healthiest method of cooking vegetables, irrespective of whether the produce is fresh or frozen before cooking. To find out more head to fisherpaykel.com

1 EASY TO USE

The principle of steam cooking is as simple as it is effective: food is gently enveloped in hot steam. The immediate exchange of heat ensures rapid cooking without the need for heat-up time. Fisher & Paykel designers have taken this concept and created the Built-in Combination Steam Oven, which allows you to cook food in its own juices to retain nutrients and flavour.

DID YOU KNOW Fisher & Paykel’s combination steam oven has seven other oven modes, including grill and fan functions.

DID YOU KNOW bamboo steamers have been used in food preparation for centuries in China. The steamers have an inner basket that keeps the food separate from the water.

2 SCIENTIFIC PROOF

Tests at universities in Germany revealed that steamcooked vegetables are superior, in respect to sensory properties, to those cooked using other methods. Nutrient levels were also shown to be higher.

DID YOU KNOW steamed broccoli contains 50% more vitamin C than boiled broccoli.

DID YOU KNOW steamed capsicums have over 25% more vitamin C than boiled capsicums.

DID YOU KNOW red capsicums cooked in a steam oven contain as many minerals as raw capsicums. By comparison, boiled capsicums have about 45% less nutrients than raw capsicums.

DID YOU KNOW fish retains its texture and unique flavour through the gentle method of steam cooking.

3 DESIGNED TO MATCH

Fisher & Paykel’s Combination Steam Oven can be placed virtually anywhere. Finished in black reflective glass with a polished metal trim, the steam oven is designed to match other companion products such as the Built-in Coffee Maker and Built-in Combination Microwave Oven.

DID YOU KNOW the Built-in Combination Steam Oven is easy to install, with no plumbing needed.

DID YOU KNOW the CoolTouch door is safe to touch from the outside, protecting your hands and the surrounding cabinetry.

DID YOU KNOW cleaning and care of the steam oven is easy. After each use, simply wipe the smooth stainless steel interior with a dry cloth.

4 COOKING WITH STEAM

To ensure you get the best results from using the steam function, start cooking food from a cold oven. Fisher & Paykel’s Combination Steam Oven also has a Steam Assist function that can be used with the convection oven function. Steam Assist is ideal for cooking roast meats and seafood. Adding steam to the oven cavity ensures the food remains tender and does not dry out.

DID YOU KNOW the steam assist function only becomes available once the internal oven temperature has exceeded 100oC.

DID YOU KNOW that steam is great for reheating. If you’ve got leftovers, or cooked ahead of time to suit your busy lifestyle, reheating with steam will help retain moisture and flavour.

DID YOU KNOW the design of the Combination Steam Oven includes a child lock for added safety.
