NEED TO KNOW: The fridge in a drawer that takes cool storage next level

-

Adding an extra fridge for food and drinks storage is easy these days, thanks to Fisher & Paykel’s convenient and compact CoolDrawer™ Multitemperature Drawer. In a spacious and functional kitchen, the main fridge can be located in the work area and a CoolDrawer™ in a nearby entertaining zone. The CoolDrawer™ can be concealed behind your kitchen cabinetry for a simple and sleek aesthetic. If you select the integrated option, your guests won’t even know it’s there until it comes time to serve drinks. There is also a stainless steel option for the finish, if that’s a look you prefer.

“Our design team is always looking at ways to offer new and interesting appliances that fit the lifestyles of our customers,” says Donald Shepherd, Fisher & Paykel’s NZ Marketing Manager. “Fisher & Paykel is a design-driven company and product innovation is an integral part of what we do so it was just a matter of time before our ground-breaking DishDrawer™ technology was applied to refrigerator storage.” Based on the same principle as Fisher & Paykel’s revolutionary DishDrawer™ dishwasher, the CoolDrawer™ combines intelligent technology with simple mechanics to create a new option for chilled storage.

Fisher & Paykel came up with their DishDrawer™ design over 20 years ago when they noticed that kitchens were morphing from task-centred spaces to the social hub of a home. At the same time, cupboards were disappearing in favour of large drawers. Building on this concept in more recent times, Fisher & Paykel designers began exploring the idea of a fridge in a drawer. As well as providing chilled storage in addition to the main fridge, the CoolDrawer™ has another advantage. Its compact size makes it the ideal chilled storage solution when space is at a premium, such as for sculleries, bars, boats and baches. To find out more head to fisherpaykel.com

MULTILPLE OPTIONS

Having options makes life so much more enjoyable, and Fisher & Paykel designers have included plenty in the design of the CoolDrawer ™ . It caters for a range of chilled storage requirements, with five temperature settings – fridge, freezer, pantry, chill and wine. You can switch between modes at the touch of a button for total flexibility. The CoolDrawer ™ can also be placed at bench height to eliminate the need for stooping.

1 FRIDGE

DID YOU KNOW the compact upper storage tray is a perfect place to keep the ingredients for an antipasto platter, while the tall bin is ideal for large bottles and containers.

2 FREEZER

DID YOU KNOW the CoolDrawer™ Freezer Mode offers three options to cater for different requirements. It can be set at -18oC for long- term deep freeze storage of frozen items and there are two additional freezer functions for flexibility – bottle chill and fast freeze.

3 PANTRY

DID YOU KNOW that the Pantry Mode is designed for foods that require a cool, dark place for storage such as tropical fruits, tomatoes and cereals.

4 CHILL

DID YOU KNOW that Chill Mode sets the compartment at - 0.5oC, just above the freezing temperature ideal for meat.

5 WINE

DID YOU KNOW that Wine Mode is ideal for long- term storage of all wine at 12oC. It also offers short- term storage at 7oC for white wine and 15oC for red wine.

DID YOU KNOW the temperature for long-term wine storage ( 12oC) is based on the temperature of caves in France, which have been used as wine cellars for centuries.
