Woody Allen v Mia Farrow
Neon
This headline-making, investigative documentary attempts to untangle one of the most bitter, ugly and horrific scandals in showbiz history. Told over four parts it investigates the allegations of childhood sexual abuse made by Dylan Farrow against her adopted father, Oscar-winning film-maker and actor Woody Allen, when she was just 7 years old.
To get to the bottom of this the filmmakers had to wade into the murky waters swirling around the acerbic, very public break-up between Allen and Dylan's adopted mother, actress Mia Farrow, in 1992. The couple had been romantically linked for 12 years and had made around a dozen movies together before Farrow ended the relationship after discovering explicit photos of 21-year-old Soon-Yi Previn, her adopted daughter from a previous marriage, in Allen's apartment. Allen and Previn would later marry.
Allen denied the abuse allegations claiming Farrow had coached Dylan in order to win a vicious custody battle and as revenge for his affair with Previn.
Filmed over three years, the documentary features new interviews, police reports, home video footage and previously unseen archival material. Reviews have been positive, one calling it, "a comprehensive, convincing and ultimately devastating documentary".
