Henare working to lift Ma¯ori vaccine numbers
Associate Health Minister Peeni Henare was vaccinated yesterday and said he would be promoting the vaccine to Ma¯ori communities this week.
A focus of the vaccine programme was equity within the priority groups.
The Ministry of Health had been in conversations with Ma¯ori health providers about the rollout, Henare said.
Iwi leaders and social media would be used to get the message out and he was working with Ma¯ori health providers to train more Ma¯ori to administer the vaccine.
Henare said New Zealand was on track when it came to the Ma¯ori vaccination campaign.
“We’re going to do our best to raise those numbers.”
