New Zealanders were urged to get on board and support the Olympic team 100 days out from the Tokyo Games at a launch event at The Cloud on Auckland’s Waterfront yesterday.

Athletes from rugby, sailing, weightlifting, karate and surfing — in its first appearance in the Olympics this year — rode a giant recordbreaking skateboard that will hit the road on a nationwide tour to promote the event that kicks off in Japan on July 23.

The Games of the 32nd Olympiad were postponed due to Covid-19 last year, disrupting preparations.

More than 200 athletes are expected to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games which will run from July 23 to August 8. There are more than 10,500 athletes from 206 nations set to compete in Tokyo.
