Short & sweet

On vaccine

The previous President Trump deserves grateful thanks for the “Warp Speed” initiative that pushed science to develop the vaccine. Our blokes need a push in the rear end to get properly started.

Darryl Higgins, St Marys Bay.

On Waiheke

I am astonished that the people of Auckland have not been much more vocal in opposing the Kennedy Point Marina in order to protect the Gulf.

Erin Clatworthy, Waiheke Island.

On Government

We are now purported to have the most transparent and transformational government; Imagine the state of affairs if we had a government that made an art form of obfuscation, procrastination and duplicity? J. Porter, Taradale.

On trees

Regarding central Auckland’s loss of tree canopy, whatever happened to the saying, “think global, act local”?

Chris Kiwi, Mt Albert.

On Te Huia

The huia was slow of movement and fell into extinction. It seems the oddest of choices for the name of a passenger train, unless it was made in the knowledge it was going to be excruciatingly slow and would probably fall out of service.

Roger Russell, Campbells Bay.

On nurses

Nurses, whose agreement expired in July 2020, have been offered what can only be called a princely 1.38 per cent pay rise for a two-year term — beneficiaries have been offered more than that. Mike Baker, Tauranga.
