Bull’s kick triggers chopper rescue
A Hawke’s Bay farm worker fell down a 7m hill after a bull kicked her.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter was called to the injured woman at a farm in Te Haroto about 3pm on Tuesday after the 24-year-old activated a personal locator beacon.
She suffered moderate back injuries from the kick and was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
She has since been discharged. The president of Federated Farmers, Jim Galloway, said the case highlighted the importance of people having personal locator beacons on rural sites where cellphone reception was limited.
“Often it’s many hours before people realise someone is missing and have to go and find them.”
