The home of rugby turns into a home of art

-

Rugby fortress Eden Park is turning into the home of art this weekend as the first Art in the Park gets underway tomorrow night.

The brainchild of Sofija Matich and Cary Cochrane, who worked together at the Flagstaff Gallery in Devonport, the show aims to offer an annual platform for New Zealand artists.

The paintings, mixedmedia, sketches and sculptures of 100 artists will be on display until Sunday.

“By shining a light on the best emerging and established New Zealand artists, we aim to connect this talent with everyone from aspiring collectors and enthusiasts to celebrities and the everyday public.

“Our country’s creativity will be championed to the degree it deserves,” say the organisers.
