Burns outclassed

-

Tom Burns of Christchurch was completely outclassed in the opening Olympics round of the Taekwondo under-68kg class, crushed by Brit Bradly Sinden, a world champion. It was a tough round-of 16 match-up for the 21-year-old Kiwi. The 15th seed Burns, who has been training in Korea, was crushed by Sinden, who went on a scoring spree from the outset. Sinden led by 13 points after just 30 seconds. The contest was stopped with the score 53-8 at the end of the second round, when the 20-point mercy rule kicked in. Burns can make it into the bronze medal hunt via the repechage system, if Sinden makes the final.
