Sinarahma’s set to do Sharrock proud in Cup

- — NZ Racing Desk

Well-performed relatives Sinarahma and Our Hail Mary have been fine servants of Allan Sharrock’s operation and will chase further staying honours at North Island venues on Saturday.

Sinarahma will head to Arawa Park to contest the Rotorua Cup (2200m) while Our Hail Mary will tackle the Landmark Handicap (2100m) at Hawera.

“The way Sinarahma has been finishing her races off, she will be hard to hold out at 2200m and her mother won at two miles, so it looks a suitable race,” Sharrock said.

Sinarahma won the Cuddle Stakes (1600m) three runs back before she was a close second in the Manawatū Breeders’ Stakes ( 2000m). At her most recent outing, she finished stoutly for third in the Travis Stakes.

By Darci Brahma, the seven-yearold is a daughter of Shez Sinsational who was prepared by Sharrock to win three times at Group 1 level in the Auckland Cup (3200m), Zabeel Classic (2000m) and Spring Classic (2000m) during her career.

Sinarahma hasn’t helped her cause in the past by missing the start, but has since curbed that habit.

“That’s all behind her now and we treated her back again this morning so that’s all top notch as well,” Sharrock said.

“This will more than likely be her last run. She’s been a terrific mare and it’s a fantastic family that will keep kicking on.”

The Cuddle Stakes success aside, Sinarahma has also landed two editions of the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) and finished runner-up in the Thorndon Mile (1600m).

Her half-sister House Of Cartier, trained by Peter Didham, won the Metric Mile (1600m) and was third in the Schweppes Oaks (2000m).

Sinarahma’s stablemate Our Hail Mary is out of a sister to Shez Sinsational and has successes in the Trentham Stakes (2100m) and Marton Cup (2200m).

“I didn’t think Our Hail Mary was going quite as well as Sinarahma so I thought I would split them this weekend and she was pretty good last time out,” Sharrock said.

Our Hail Mary took up the unaccustomed role of pacemaker when fifth two runs back Te Rapa and then fought on gamely off a handy sit when third at Whanganui.
