Statement silhouettes
There is one silhouette this summer that is everywhere — the wide leg cropped pant, or culottes. It is a style that can be hard to pull off, either looking ultra chic, or frumpy and unflattering.
If you are short, these pants can be particularly challenging, so it is important to consider proportions in your overall look, and to choose the right length above the ankle to avoid the pants swamping you or making your legs appear shorter. Go for a high-waisted style with a tie or emphasise your waist with a belt. Opt for a fitted or cropped top to balance out the wider bottoms. Elastic sheer tops look great with culottes, as does a fitted tee or singlet tucked in. Cropped pants are a great opportunity to show off your footwear. A wedge sandal or high mule gives the impression of length, or for a more casual look, slip on a leather slide or loafers.
