Whanga¯ rei couple disgusted at trailer load of rubbish they found in four hours

● Brian Overton: Good on you if there were more people doing what you do it would be a better place

● Shontel Sketchley: It really is disgusting and I agree a lot of the rubbish will be from locals. State Highway 14 from Maungatapere to town is often scattered with so much rubbish on the sides of the roads. And we travelled back from Paihia on Sunday and I was so disgusted at the amount of rubbish I saw on the sides of the road. Especially because so many tourists travel that road. I can guarantee it would be New Zealanders who do it. I have watched a lady blatantly drop a whole lot of fast food rubbish out her drivers window while waiting at an intersection one day, I just couldn't believe it.

● Jolene Scott:Maybe it’s cause it cost $67 for a trailor load at the dump

● Karen Browne: Should have it how it's like in Auckland, once a year out on side of road rubbish for free it's collected

● Garry Wolfgram:Well I regularly pick up rubbish on Kensington Avenue . Much of it is thrown out of cars and left on the ground near rubbish tins. To me it’s laziness and lack of respect for others who use facilities in our area.Disappointing but not surprising

● Nick Jeremy Bamford: Hi there. Thank you very much for doing this

● Jacinda Jewels: People around here are yuck and live like pigs, appreciate people like you xo The Northern Advocate is subject to the New Zealand Media Council.
