Local companies key to supporting rescue chopper service

-

The Northland Rescue Helicopter wants to partner with more local businesses to help support the lifesaving work it does. As a charity, the Northland chopper service relies on the generous donations of the community. But a major contributor to keeping its choppers in the air is the ongoing sponsorship and support from local companies such as Fireco, Cervus and McKenzie Contractors, to name just a few.

“All these companies share our passion and drive to provide the best air ambulance possible and realise the importance of having a dedicated lifesaving rescue service for the Northland region,” says General Manager Vanessa Furze.

The call for support comes at one of the busiest times in the rescue chopper’s history with the service in demand more than ever.

March was another record-breaking month with 140 missions, almost double the number compared to the same time last year (although the country was in lockdown for two weeks during March 2020). It has flown 371 missions so far this quarter which is up on 291 for the same three months in 2020.

“We are very busy which makes the support from both the community and the business community alike even more valuable. We want to say a big thank you to all our sponsors and welcome other companies and corporates who want to jump on board and support us throughout 2021 and beyond.”
