Check out 2021’s prettiest bridal trends
2021’s prettiest bridal beauty trends have something to offer every bridetobe, says Bobbi Brown national training manager Blair Gamblin
WHETHER YOU’RE THE TYPE to embrace high-octane glamour or prefer to keep things glowy and natural: when it comes to bridal makeup, the options are endless. No matter the look you choose, Blair says there’s one thing all brides should do in the lead up to their big day — and that’s follow a consistent skincare regime. “Gorgeous skin is always a huge focus to serve as the perfect base for wedding day makeup. This begins long before the wedding day, so putting in the time now before your upcoming wedding is integral. Brides are wanting to feel effortless and that always begins and ends with great skin,” Blair explains.
Consider booking in for a consultation with your preferred skin clinic at least six months before your wedding — they’ll be able to advise which in-clinic treatments and take-home products will work best together to glean the results you’re after (glowing complexion, anyone?).
For makeup, Blair says: “Brides are aspiring to stand out without feeling over the top.”
There’s no simpler way to do so than with a pop of colour on lips, she advises.
“Where a nude lip is a good go-to for a bride, there has been a shift to more brides opting for bolder colour on the lips. Think peach hues, modern pinks, mulberry or deep rose shades,” she says.
“A blurred, bold lip pairs beautifully with a softly defined eye. This look is easy-to-wear, romantic and translates well in photos.”
The impact of Covid-19 on weddings has been undeniable, with changes in alert levels resulting in postponements or caps on numbers.
“For those who have adapted to smaller gatherings over the past year, we have seen them take a more modern, sophisticated approach to their look with tailored two-piece outfits,” she says.
This shift is reflected in makeup too, with brides opting for a monochromatic look — think creamy brown shadows paired with a matching lip colour, which Blair says gives the complexion a soft definition that is timeless.
