Koha of music for the community

-

The Ngāti Kuri #Hı¯koiTo100 Music Festival is on today.

Festival organisers are expecting more than 3000 people to descend on Awanui and enjoy headline acts Tomorrow People, 1814, Ladi6, Che Fu, Savage, Creative Nātives + Hāni Dread, Jackson Owens, and more.

The festival is a koha from Ngāti Kuri to the community in celebration of the efforts made over the past two years of Covid-19.

Sheridan Waitai, executive director of the Ngāti Kuri Iwi Trust Board, says the festival is, at its heart, an acknowledgement and celebration of the hard mahi that has gone into strengthening resilience.

Tickets cost just $10 with the option to koha more to a Ngāti Kuri kaupapa of your choice, with a percentage of all ticket and merchandise sales going towards environmental and community projects run by Ngāti Kuri.
