Nats see positives
National says it’s been getting a positive reception to its controversial plans to address youth offending. The party has revealed it wants to establish military academies for 15 to 17-yearolds, and electronic monitoring devices for children as young as 10 years old. The policies have been heavily criticised by many people working in the justice and youth development sectors. But National police spokesman Mark Mitchell says he and party leader Christopher Luxon had been getting a very different response from businesses in Auckland’s Ormiston shopping precinct yesterday.
