Work-visa fears
An immigration lawyer is urging a Government U-turn on proposed changes to partner work visas. Immigration Minister Michael Wood is delaying opening work rights for partners of skilled migrants until April. He says he’s seeking more advice and will have details in February. New Zealand Immigration Law’s Aaron Martin says it will unfairly impact migrant women. He says many aim to resume a career but the Government is looking to end that.
