Kadyrov critic shot

-

A prominent blogger and critic of Ramzan Kadyrov, the far-Right Chechen leader, has been murdered in Sweden, activists and colleagues have said. Tumso Abdurakhmanov was gunned down by a group of men late last week, according to a Chechen opposition network. The network said it could not publish further details because of the safety fears for its staff and their sources. Colleagues of Abdurakhmanov confirmed the report to Radio Free Europe’s Russian Service, saying that he was killed last Friday. The 36-year-old left Russia in 2015 after receiving threats from an official close to Kadyrov, the Chechen republic’s hardline ruler. He was eventually granted asylum in Sweden. Abdurakhmanov’s killing follows a string of assassinations of Kadyrov’s critics and enemies overseas.
