Two 180s for Mike Shalders

-

Mussel Rock XL got off to a good start with a win over the much improved Houhora Chiefs in Far North darts last Wednesday.

It was a high-scoring match with four 180s thrown, including two by Mike Shalders.

Elsewhere, the Park hit too many big scores for RSA 1 to keep up but Robbie Matthews threw well enough to pick up a couple of wins, while other div 1 highlights included father and daughter Denny Wattling and Treena Baker both hitting 180, and Jo Steed with a 125 finish.

Of the cards received from the div 2 matches, Middle Earth got home with a win in a close game against Kaitaia Club with Gina Dunn throwing four 140s, and the tabletopping Tinopai evenly matched by Murrays Bar in the scoring phase but the former proving too sharp when it came to hitting the doubles, and Joe Joyce top scoring with seven 100-plus scores.

Awanui were neck and neck, 6-6, against RSA 3 going into the last quarter before wins to Les Roberts, Jardene Martin and Ngaire Webb sealed the deal for RSA.
