Adventurers for Good setting sail

-

Adventure for Good, in partnership with OceansWatch, is preparing to sail from the Bay of Islands on a four- month expedition to deliver medical supplies to the remote Temotu province in the Solomon Islands.

The crew will also refit a number of medical clinics there, before returning to New Zealand with locally-refined virgin coconut oil for a sustainable livelihoods programme.

Adventure for Good’s flagship Caliph has been undergoing extensive renovation in preparation for her new role, and was to be relaunched at Opua this morning.

She will sail from there next month, bound initially for Vanuatu, where the crew will assist in cyclone relief efforts.

“Because of the remoteness of the area and its relatively low international profile, we are still trying to establish the full extent of the support needed in the wake of the recent cyclone season,” Adventure for Good chairman Christian Pera said. “This will be our maiden voyage in our quest to engage young people in the immediacy of positive action over idle good intentions, our first step towards becoming a force for positive action, both at home and abroad.”

Together with pioneering OceansWatch, Adventure for Good sought to make a lasting difference in small communities by providing resources that ultimately promoted independence and self-sufficiency.

Adventure For Good is described as a multi-faceted organisation based in the Bay of Islands. Incorporated in 2015, it endeavours to equip future decisionmakers with better skills to analyse, adapt, and most importantly act for the betterment of their world.
