KAITAIA VETS. The Kaitaia Golf Club vets avoided rough weather for the second week in a row on Tuesday when the rain predicted held off, allowing a decent turnout of members to enjoy ideal winter conditions.

Results were, men: Ed Masters 32, Simon Yates 31, Terry Shaw 31, Vaughan Smith 29, Dave Squire 28; ladies: Elaine Hammond 31, July Yates 29, Ann Squire 27, Noelene Robson 26. There were 2s by S Yates and V Smith, although it was noted nobody again landed on the Par 3 9th green so winners were by lot, E masters (men) and Brenda Muller (ladies), while the lucky draw winner was Jack Connolly.

The previous week, Monday, May 25, only a dozen or so local vets braved the elements where results were, men: Brian Mulcahy 28, Peter Hammond 28, ladies: Val Simpson 24. There were 2s by Terry Shaw and P Hammond, nearest pin No 9: Jim Gardner and Raewyn Shaw, and lucky draw: Bob Robson.

KAITAIA. The latest update from the Kaitaia Golf Club featured the results from the Pak’nSave pairs tournament contested at Ahipara over the long weekend where A Cassidy and F Smith emerged victorious with a combined nett score of 192 nett. They were followed by B and N Robson 199, 2 (e.g. runners-up), D and L Masters 202, 3, J Proctor (and) J Douglas 206, 4, B Logan V Leach 206, 5, J Hinchco L Yuretich, 6, and H Stephens J Carnahan 210, 7. The sponsors were thanked for their support.

This Saturday sees the club hosting 90 Mile Shield. The draw off the No 1 tee is, 0930hrs V and S Smith and S Hossini, W Clark, 0938 M Kahi, B Josling and D Frost, C Semenoff, 0946 D and D Masters and N Watkins, B Veza, 0954 D McCulloch, S Courtenay and T Wright, A Cassidy, 1000 B Waitai, C Urlich and C Helleur plus one other. Post entries will be accepted on the day.
