Beach traffic

The Far North District Council, Te Hiku Community Board, police, Far North REAP and Far North Surf Rescue have jointly called another public meeting at Ahipara on Thursday next week, 6pm at the golf club, to discuss establishing a vehicle-free area on the beach for six weeks of summer, mid-December to the end of January. A safety zone applies year-round at Cooper’s Beach, with exemptions for some, including emergency services and commercial fishermen.
