A better option

- SHERYL BAINBRIDGE Kaeo LEO LEITCH Benneydale

I’ve just read a fairly horrifying opinion article about elderly care services

(http://www.newshub.co.nz/ home/health/2018/02/opinionstand-up-for-our-elderly-or-oneday-it-could-be-you.html).

We don’t want this, and we certainly don’t want general health services heading down the same track when a better option has been pointed out.

Wayne Brown wrote (letters January 11) about getting better health services (A new model of health care), and as one response said, he hit the nail right on the head. I also replied to Wayne Brown’s letter, and sent a copy and a link to our new politicians. A couple of them wrote back, ‘Got your letter. That’s nice.’

Someone else wrote to DHB members, but then, nothing.

So what’s the next step? It’s clear that change is needed, so we have to stand up for change, and obviously a few letters to the paper aren’t going to cut it. ‘One day’ could be closer than we think, so I suggest that anyone with concerns contact the local MP, the Minister of Health and some of the other locally-based MPs. Finlayson (surely some close relation to the disastrous Chris Finlayson), Dr Fishoil, Anahera Herbert-Graves, Shane Jones and Winston Peters. And there might be others.

This will certainly be positive action in regard to my mental health.
