A 20-year-old man who recorded 810 micrograms per litre of breath was charged with driving with excess alcohol after his car collided with another vehicle that he had reportedly been racing in Pukepoto Rd, Kaitaia, on Saturday night. A woman told police she had been driving, but was not sufficiently convincing.
