Benign weather a blessing at Church Rd

-

Organisers of an open anycombination triples tournament held recently at the Kaitaia Church Road Bowling Club were grateful the wet conditions produced by the prevailing La Nina effect were not present for the event.

The annual Folders/ Marston Moor tournament attracted 12 teams and the occasional cloud cover made for pleasant conditions.

Following afternoon tea and prior to prizegiving, players and visitors observed a period of silence in memory of the club’s patroness, longtime bowler and a past president, Mrs Margaret Marshall.

President John Richards announced the winners, who in return mentioned the pleasing tournament organisation, well prepared green and the generosity of the event sponsors.

The top placegetters were, Mike Reddy (skip), Evelyn Bradley, Cole Kiripaka 4 wins, 25 ends, 48 points, 1; Marty Doak, Bruce Panther, Sonny Hokai 3, 23, 49, 2; John Malamatenios, Dianne Brake, Fae Malamatenios 3, 18, 38.
