Ideal conditions for Fulton Hogan Triples

A full muster of 48 bowlers — made up of 16 triples teams of any combinatio­n from Cooper’s Beach, Houhora and Oruru and the host club — took part in the inaugural Fulton Hogan Triples at the Far North RSA on Saturday, February 24.

The event was run in ideal weather and the format was four games of 1 hour 15 minutes each. The top placegette­rs were, Dave Roughton, Pam Roughton and Len Cooke (Cooper’s Beach) 4 wins, 23 ends and 30 points, 1; Al Thom, Jill Phillips and Paul Burren (RSA) 4, 22, 50, 2; and, Jean Huxtable, Russell Hockley and Violet Kara (RSA) 3 plus a draw, 23, 51, 3; while the lucky draw of chocolates went to the team of Tessa Pont, Sean Ledingham and Haami Kunaiti (Church Rd).

After presenting the prizes, president Ian Macnee thanked the sponsors, participat­ing bowlers, plus greenkeepe­r Kevin, Karena in the kitchen, Kath with the raffles and timekeeper, and conveners Pat and Adele. ■ The next open tournament being hosted by the Far North RSA is the Stonecraft Constructi­on Mixed Triples on Saturday, March 10.
