Rain puts paid to T20 double double-header

-

The Northland Reserve Grade T20 doubleheader cricket match at Kerikeri on Saturday ended up being washed out.

The situation is a little confusing due in part to the lack of commitment to complete the season by some teams but it appears four games were supposed to have been played on the day, the first two being Onerahi Reserves vs Whangarei Boys’ High 2nd XI (with Onerahi claiming the win, after Whangarei Boys’ pulled out the night before), and WRMK Kerikeri vs Kamo High 1st XI.

The second match of the day — representing round 2 of the T20 — would have pitted Kerikeri against Onerahi, and WBHS 2nd XI vs Kamo High 1st XI (the former of course having already defaulted).

Round 3 of the T20 is set to take place at Kensington Stadium this weekend with Kerikeri vs WBHS 2nd XI, and Kamo High 1st XI vs Onerahi Reserves.

It is unconfirmed but these two games will, presumably, be followed by semifinals on the same day to decide the two teams to play off for the title on Saturday, March 17. That some sides are struggling to complete the season in one piece means any draw remains a fluid prospect.
