Big day for grad­u­ates

About 250 NorthTec grad­u­ates march through Whangarei to­mor­row to cel­e­brate com­plet­ing their diplo­mas, de­grees and grad­u­ate diplo­mas.

There are two cer­e­monies at Fo­rum North, at 10am and 2pm, the first for grad­u­ates in busi­ness and man­age­ment, in­for­ma­tion sys­tems and soft­ware de­vel­op­ment, ap­plied so­cial ser­vices, cook­ery, ar­chi­tec­tural tech­nol­ogy and civil en­gi­neer­ing.

The af­ter­noon cer­e­mony is for those who have qual­i­fied in ap­plied arts, ap­plied writ­ing, sport and recre­ation, con­ser­va­tion and en­vi­ron­men­tal man­age­ment, sci­ence, Ma¯ori arts and nurs­ing.

The march, be­tween the cer­e­monies, leaves the Rose Gar­dens in Water Street at 1pm, fol­low­ing the tra­di­tional route along Vine Street, Qual­ity Street, Cameron Street and Rust Av­enue, fin­ish­ing at Fo­rum North.

The stu­dent vale­dic­to­rian will be Heleina Garisau, a Bach­e­lor of Ma¯ori Arts (Maunga Kura Toi).
